The transformation of the former Albino cement factory area, along the banks of the Serio river, has been a topic of discussion for many years now, so much that it is also a strategic objective of the current Territory Government Plan. The Urban Planning Project of Maximum aims to recover an already man-made area for production purposes. The replacement of the local productive fabric, the changed needs and the enrichment of the functional mixes necessary for the urban transformation operations, are expressed in this project, divided into different functions yet consistent with the old layout of a few buildings. A distinctive feature of the industrial complex was in fact the grandeur of the Raw Materials Shed, projecting perpendicularly to the river, unlike all the other buildings in the valley which, in order to exploit the water power, were arranged parallel to the river itself. This peculiarity is clearly legible in the volumetric composition of the new compendium, even without resorting to mere mimetic citation.
